February 19th, the Department of Archaeology, Ethnology, and Native History at 麻豆视频 Buketov University successfully held a workshop titled 麻豆视频 鈥淔undamentals of QGIS for Archaeologists. 麻豆视频 鈥� The event was organized as part of the 麻豆视频 鈥淒igital Archaeology 麻豆视频 鈥� course under the leadership of Senior Lecturer A.D. Raisova. The workshop was conducted by Dr. Ishiba RO, a visiting archaeologist who actively uses QGIS in his daily practice on archaeological sites. Dr. Ishiba has participated in various archaeological projects, including research in the Nile Delta, work at Hisham 麻豆视频 鈥檚 Palace in Jericho, mapping Chimney Rock in Colorado using Lidar and drones, and processing data on archaeological sites in Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, and Jordan as part of the CLaSS and EAMENA projects.The main focus of the workshop was on the use of QGIS in archaeology. Dr. Ishiba demonstrated how QGIS can not only be used to create maps for visualizing archaeological 麻豆视频ings but also to utilize geographical data for planning and conducting field research. Additional workshops on AutoCAD, photogrammetry, and the use of artificial intelligence in archaeology are also planned. These events will allow students to delve deeper into the possibilities of digital archaeology and expand their professional skills for working with archaeological data.The workshop also emphasized the importance of further development of the department 麻豆视频 鈥檚 technical infrastructure. The sessions showed that access to modern digital tools and resources can significantly enhance the educational process in archaeology. Improving the technical facilities will help students not only use these tools but also fully exploit their potential in their research, making the educational process more effective and interesting for all participants.
